Membership Questions

1.  How will I know when my application has been processed?

Processing of applications takes on average 2 weeks to carry out. For new members, you will be mailed a receipt, which includes your membership card and information about the Institute and it’s member benefits. As renewing members, you may update your information on-line at secure.cheminst.ca/default.asp. You will receive a receipt with your new year’s membership card once your payment has been received. Once your payment has been processed you will receive the next issue of ACCN by mail.

2.  Do I need a sponsor to complete my membership application?

In keeping with the CIC’s Code of Ethics, we ask that you provide us with a name of a sponsor who will confirm that you are indeed interested in involvement with the chemical industry.  Our preference is that your sponsor be a member of the institute as they have already shown their interest in participating in the chemical community.  As well, it makes verification of sponsor easier as we have contact information, should we need to verify anything with the sponsor.

If you do not know anyone from the Institute, you may use an outside sponsor.  This can be an employer, teacher or anyone who is willing to vouch that you are interested in the being involved in the chemical community.
