Terms of Reference
The award was established by the Canadian Society for Chemical Technology (CSCT) in 1980, to commemorate the devotion of the Brights to The Chemical Institute of Canada, culminating in Norman's service as Treasurer from 1967-1970, and Marion's as Manager of Membership Services from 1970-1974.

Award
An engraved medallion, together with an honorarium of such amount as shall be made available by the Trustees of the Chemical Education Trust Fund.
Eligibility
The award shall be presented to an individual who has made outstanding contribution in Canada to the furtherance of chemical technology. The person so honoured may be either a chemical sciences technologist, or a person from outside the field who has made a significant and noteworthy contribution to its advancement.
Nomination
Submit one original and five copies of the nomination to the CSCT awards manager.
The following information is required:
- Nomination Form
- A detailed outline of the contribution of the nominee to the advancement of chemical technology, and the reasons why the Award is merited. Technical scientific achievement need not be the only consideration in the assessment of a nominee.
All valid nominations shall remain in force for a period of three years. Membership in the Institute is not a prerequisite for this Award.
Selection Committee:
- President of The Canadian Society for Chemical Technology
- Chair of The Chemical Institute of Canada
- Three additional knowledgeable persons co-opted by the Committee
The award shall be presented annually unless the Selection Committee feels that no suitable candidate has been nominated.
The monies contributed to the Memorial Fund, and the financial aspects of the award, shall be administered by the Trustees of the Chemical Education Trust Fund. Administration of the award and amendments to these terms of reference are the responsibility of the Board of Directors of the CSCT.
