CIC Honorary Fellowships are granted to individuals for exceptional contributions to the chemical professions. 

Nominations
CIC Honorary Fellowship nominations must be sponsored by at least five full members in good standing.

Achievements
Each nomination shall be accompanied by supporting information comprising, at a minimum, a letter of recommendation from each nominator and the candidate's curriculum vitae and a description of the contributions that shows clearly why the individual merits this special recognition.  

Procedures
Sponsors from outside the candidate's institution are desirable. Election as an Honorary Fellow requires unanimous approval by the CIC Board of Directors.

Full documentation on each nominee shall be submitted to the chair of the CIC Board through the executive director at least two months in advance of the board meeting at which the vote will take place.  Alternatively, with the agreement of the CIC Chair, the vote may be carried out by mail ballot.

There shall not at any time be more than 25  living Honorary Fellows of whom not more than 10 shall have been resident outside of Canada at the date of their election.
