The CIC and
its Constituent Societies offer a wide range of services, programs and
activities to its members. |

Common to all Societies
- Government
Relations includes an extensive program, which voices the concerns
of chemical professionals to federal and provincial governments on
important issues such as research funding and regulatory affairs.
- Canadian Chemical
News a news magazine is published ten times per year.

CIC
Career Services provide excellent support programs and career networking opportunities.
- Conferences
are organized by the three Societies for the general membership as
well as for students.
- Professional
Development courses, seminars and workshops provide opportunities
to continually upgrade technical and management skills.

Local
Sections across Canada arrange local activities
and networking opportunities.

Subject Divisions,
through both the CIC and Constituent Societies organize programs in 16
different technical and scientific areas.

Outreach
Programs communicate to the public by promoting the chemical
profession and industry.

Awards
administered by the Institute recognize contributions to the chemical sciences,
profession and education.

The Chemical Education
Trust Fund, a registered charity, administered by
Trustees who are members of the Institute support
educational and public awareness activities.

Canadian Society for Chemistry
- The CSC accredits
undergraduate chemistry programs at
Canadian universities.
- The CSC works with students
at many university and college campuses through Student Chapters and organizes four Regional Student Conferences
each year.
- The
Awards of the CSC
recognize major achievements in chemical research and education.
Scholarships reward academic excellence and student chapter participation.
- Together with the Steacie Institute of the
National Research Council, the CSC sponsors the Canadian National Committee for
IUPAC.

Canadian Society for Chemical Technology
- The CSCT provides
certification
of chemical technologists.
- The CSCT participates in the Canadian
Technology Accreditation Board (CTAB), which provides accreditation of chemical technology
programs at Institutes of Technology, Community Colleges and CEGEPS.
- The Society has a signed
Memorandum of Understanding with OACETT &
NBSCETT to bring CSCT members in
Ontario and New Brunswick opportunities for professional development.
- Support of
students of chemical
technology through a network is carried out through
Student Chapters
at institutions across Canada.
- Recognition of contributions to chemical
technology and the education of chemical technologists through its
awards program
