CIC/CSC Membership Requirements
Full member (MCIC)
For
admission as a full member (MCIC), a candidate
must fulfill one of the following requirements.
- Hold a Bachelor's degree or
higher in chemistry, or an equivalent
degree or diploma, in a program
accredited by the Society or
qualifications approved by the
Credentials Committee.
- Hold a degree from a
chemistry program at a foreign university
or from a non-accredited Canadian
chemistry program where the Credentials
Committee has judged the program to be
equivalent to those accredited by the
Society. Candidates in programs judged to
be not equivalent will be accepted with
three years of experience in the
profession of chemistry.
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in
engineering, applied science or a branch
of science other than chemistry or an
equivalent degree or diploma from an
accredited program or one approved by the
Credentials Committee and have at least
three years of experience in the
profession of chemistry after graduation.
- Be a member of an
Association, Order or Corporation of
Chemists established under the laws of
Canada or a Province or Territory, and
have at least three years of experience
in the profession of chemistry.
- At the time of application
be a graduate student in chemistry or a
postdoctoral fellow in chemistry with
qualifications accepted by the
Credentials Committee.
- A candidate who does not
hold any of the qualifications listed
above but who is a recognized authority
on chemistry and has attained a high
degree of eminence.

apply for membership on-line or obtain an
application from National Office (1-888-542-2242 ext.230).Please complete all
items on the form including the sponsor's
signature. A current resume can be submitted in
lieu of the items on education and employment. To
be eligible for a special graduate student rate,
applicants must submit an additional graduate
student form signed by their department head or
thesis advisor.
Associate
Member (ACIC)
Anyone associated with the practice of, or with
an interest in chemistry, who does not qualify as a full Member of the Society, but who wishes to
support the objectives of the Society may apply
as an Associate Member (ACIC).
