CIC/CSChE Membership Requirements
Full member (MCIC)
For admission as a full member (MCIC),
a candidate must fulfill one of the following requirements.
- Hold a Bachelor's or higher degree in
chemical engineering or an equivalent degree from a university, college or
technical school of recognized standing in Canada.
- Hold a degree from a chemical engineering
program at a foreign university or from a non-accredited Canadian chemical
engineering program where the Credentials Committee has judged the program
to be equivalent to those of recognized standing in Canada. Candidates in
programs judged to be not equivalent will be accepted with three years of
acceptable experience in the profession of chemical engineering.
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a
branch of engineering other than chemical engineering or an equivalent
degree from a university, college or technical school of recognized standing
and have at least three years of acceptable experience in chemical
engineering or industrial chemistry after graduation.
- Be a member of an association or corporation
of engineers or professional engineers established under the laws of a
province or territory of Canada and have at least three years of acceptable
experience in chemical engineering or industrial chemistry.
- Be a graduate student in chemical
engineering or a postdoctoral fellow in chemical engineering whose
qualifications have been accepted by the Credentials Committee as equivalent
to those listed above.
- A candidate who does not hold any of the
qualifications listed above but who is a recognized authority on chemical
engineering and has attained a high degree of eminence.

apply for membership on-line or obtain an
application from National Office (1-888-542-2242 ext.230). Please complete all items on the form
including the sponsor's signature. A current resume can be submitted in lieu of
the items on education and employment. To be eligible for a special graduate
student rate, applicants must submit an additional graduate student form signed
by their department head or thesis advisor.
Associate Member (ACIC)
Anyone associated with the practice of, or with
an interest in chemistry, who does not qualify as a
full Member of the Society, but who wishes to
support the objectives of the Society may apply
as an Associate Member (ACIC).
