Public Lecture April 2010 The Association of the Chemical Profession of Alberta (ACPA) is pleased to announce the new ACPA Public Lectures in Chemistry. These lectures are intended to be annual events addressing chemistry-related topics of concern to the general public. Our inaugural speaker will be Graham Thomson, the noted columnist from the Edmonton Journal. He will be speaking on a topic that he researched as a Canadian Journalism Foundation fellow at the University of Toronto in 2008-2009: “Burying Carbon Dioxide in Underground Saline Aquifers: Political folly or climate change fix?” His lectures are scheduled for Edmonton April 7, 2010, and Calgary on April 14, 2010. A reception will follow each of the lectures. For details, a short biography and abstract, please refer to the attached flyer. Tuesday, September 25th The Unicorn Pub, on Stephen Avenue (304 - 8th Ave SW) 6:30pm to 8:30pm The University of Calgary and TELUS World of Science - Calgary have partnered to offer Science Cafes at The Unicorn pub in downtown Calgary. They will be held the fourth Tuesday of every month from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the Unicorn pub, on Stephen Avenue, 304 - 8th Ave. SW. The best part....it's FREE! This is open to all University of Calgary faculty members, staff, students and alumni as well as the general public. Those interested must be 18 or over to attend. |
